How many temp jobs go perm?

I exceedingly want a solid opportunity. My recruiter calls me to chide me that she wants to put me in a temp (to perm) position. Last girl was temping there 6 months and she is wealthy back to school.
Question is: would the opportunity be worth it in these times?

Is the agency way, the only way? (Part 2)
My motivation is that I now effort for a consultancy company that uses contractors and we are paying a heavy payment to engage them through agencies. From our side the maths is easy if we could find a model where we could find and engage contractors quickly on business-to-business contracts then we could improve our profitability. It would also enable us to breed by bidding for larger projects in the knowledge that we could profitably engage contractors to effort on them. At present agency margins of 15-25 per cent make the exemplar almost unworkable with agencies making far more margin than we could ever hope to, lots of gamble but low rewards.
I asked for comments and discussion on the topic and then promptly mow down ill for the rest of the month.
