Lumber distributor to expand in Abington thanks to generous TIF
ABINGTON, Immensity Public. — Cape Cod Lumber will build its new 132,000-square-foot complex b conveniences in Abington thanks to an approximately $500,000 incentive package including a tax augmentation financing agreement and a 100 percent personal property tax immunity from the town of Abington.
The second generation, family-owned traffic plans to invest an estimated $7.5 million to purchase earth and construct a facility on Groveland Street in Abington. The move will help the assembly retain 92 full-time jobs and create five new full-time jobs, the company said in a statement.
Recently approved by the Massachusetts Trade Assistance Coordinating Council, the generous TIF to Cape Cod Lumber will earmark it to expand and consolidate its headquarters, distribution center and retail market in one location and keep its design center at its current Route 18 spot.
In securing the TIF, Cape Cod Lumber had help from Medway-based Trade Development Strategies, Inc., a government incentives consulting firm.
