Why is the pay rate for a temporary part time contract less than casual pay rate?

I got offered a makeshift part time contract at a retail store because christmas is coming soon but the contract states I get a lesser pay reproach than my casual pay rate. Why is that? I thought part time employment gets paid more than accidental.

Part-time and casual work on the rise with 190000 Queenslanders underemployed
