On the hunt for a dress for a office holiday party.?

Not a unfeigned fancy dress b/c the party is being held in a college gym. But I want it to impress. I am 5'4 and not shrunken but not fat.

I'd look for something in one potent color, with a decorative neckline or shoulders. I'd avoid unyoke top/bottom or two pieces. You want to give the illusion of height and slimness and not look chunky.
