Should I wear pantyhose/stockings to the office holiday party?

I'm usual to an office holiday cocktail party. My dress is black, strapless, and lacy with sequins here and there. This is a unprogressive crowd and I don't want to make the wrong impression. Should I corrode black pantyhose with my dress?
I come up with you should wear nude or tan, very sheer hose with open toe swish heels... If the hose are sheer enough, you won't even be able to castigate that you have hose on those toes!
