Is it OK to wear a golf shirt & slacks to an office job interview?

I dont sense comfortable wearing a white shirt, tie so will go with a golf shirt, slacks, embargo dress shoes.
Is that ok?
Or do i need to dress better to play the role of the imitation guy who is really trying to be a pro?
