Can I wear a normal winter coat with my long evening dress for a Xmas party, pl help, this is my first party?

I am attending my fellow's office Xmas party . The dress code is preferably black tie. I am planning to go by gradually a long black evening dress. Can i wear a normal knee ultimately woolen coat when entering the hotel and will someone take it/will there be a place for coats?

Annoy your knee length coat. It is cold out and you need to keep strained. People do it all the time. I bought a very expensive very long paint a few years ago and now, I can't wear it on the street and to the job (I could then, it was the style).
