How much fun is it being on a Dunk Tank? What do you recommend a Male wear on a Dunk Tank?

I persevere in New Zealand and I'm really keen to have a go on a Dunk Tank. The pictures I've seen over the Internet seem to depict the dunkees having a overwhelm of fun, but how much fun are they really?
Can you swim? LOL I once volunteered to be in one at a readies raiser. It was summer and looked fun. Well I don't swim and they had the water about 8 ft intensely. I could not reach the platform and almost drowned. Its funny now, but not back then.
